Fender Flares?
My Flares have been on for 20 months and the gaskets are still flat and smooth.
The body shop that installed them was the one that said not to paint them, because I would have a problem with the paint in a couple of years.
I've seen Tacoma's with painted flares and they have the black gasket. It doesn't look bad, kinda highlights the fact you have the flares.

The next time mine goes to the dealer for service, that's def going to be one of the things on my 'gripe list'. There's no reason at all that these things should be all wrinkled and buckled. It's a brand new truck that I've had less than a year and driven less than 9000 miles, and I noticed the gaskets were screwed within a few months of buying it.
