Yeah, I'm trying to avoid paying 30 bucks for a report. I've always offered to run them when I have carfax and was hoping that the favor would be repaid.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to trade with this guy, but he has an 04 Eddie Bauer Explorer with 62k. It's got all the bells and whistles that the Dakota doesn't have. It also has a worse history in areas like the transmission, so I'm not sold yet.

Well, we are talking trade, so I don't think he would be willing to pay. I will pay if need be, but being the cheap a$$ I am, I am gonna try to get it for free.

FYI, the Carfax report only shows things that have been reported, i.e. repairs done at a shop, or collisions turned in to insurance. I learned this on my truck. The front end had been bumped, and the bumper cover repositioned. After I bought the truck I found the front bumper support dented and cost about $450 to fix. I could've done it for cheaper if I had just bought the support and done the repair myself, but I didn't have the time or area to do it at my apartments.
