Default Well this should be fun.....

OK, here we go

So the other day i go to take the truck around the block after rotating the tires. Well i get on it pretty hard around a turn and right in the 1-2 upshift, BOOM! I can already tell this is gunna suck.
I get out and pop the hood. Everything seems ok, no oil, no smoke. So i try to crank it over. It fires but is knocking and missing horribly. And to top it off its burning so much oil, it filled the street with smoke after only idling for around 10 seconds. I Immediately shut it down and begin rolling it home.
Once I get home, i pull the plugs to check everything over. Uh oh, oil everywhere in there and plugs are FRIED! I decide to have it towed to the dealer, since its still under factory warranty (it only has 30,000 mi).

Once there, they look it over and say they'll call in the morning. Morning comes and i get the call. The head service director states they opened it up, and found mud and water deposites, and thus is not going to be covered under warranty. And better yet, want $7,500 for a rebuilt motor.

Great.

So here is where i am now, with the truck towed back home. I'm gunna open the heads tomorrow and see what condition the pistons are in. That will decide what happens next. I will probably be rebuilding the damn thing myself for thousands less than what the dealer wanted.

Can anyone say STROKER????

well if its really f-ed up i would throw a different motor in there.. 5.7 hemi or a 5.9 360... that sounds like a bunch of bs the dealer told you too.. i would def take off the heads and look for urself.. you never know those 1/8 pistons may still be ok but i dout it.
if i heard 7500 bucks i would say f it and spending the money on either of these 3 choices 6.1,5.7,or the 5.9.... its up to you man if u like the power it was creating keep it, but if i was you i would go BIG OR GO HOME....
and im pretty sure they dont make a stroker kit for the 4.7 either..
check out AIRRAM.com for all ur forged pistons and such if u decide to go that road..

let us know how it works out!

my first thought was a blown 6.1 hemi...... Just don't know how much i would need to push that firewall back, if any for that matter. I'll deffinately look into it....

This is just me going out on a limb here, but I would think the block would be the same (or at least similar dimensions) for all newer Chrysler small block V8s. That was pretty common in Chebbys over the years anyway. The block was forged/cast the same and the difference in CID was just made up in the bore and stroke.

If that is the case, I would think dropping a 5.7 or 6.1 in it should be relatively simple (relative is the key word). Just a matter of motor mounts, cross members and so on. The firewall shouldn't pose a problem.

Either way, as far as yours pretending to be a grenade, how the hell did it get mud inside of the engine? :/

Well it does see its share of mudding, but the K&N filter seemed to do a good job at keeping that out. I guess just not a good enough job. And speaking of jobs, i should probably start looking for a second one to pay for all this :/
