Saying goodbye...New Mazdaspeed3 in the garage!
Well, it certainly was hard to do, but I said goodbuy to the good ol' Dak last week and traded her in for a new car. Picked up a 08.5 Mazda Speed3. Boy, now this is a quick car. She makes about the same hp and tq as the HO Dak, but boy is this better (in a totally different kind of way). I have signed up for the Speed3 forums etc, so will find a new crew to read about....You all have been great the last 3 years and I've really enjoyed modding the truck. Now a new one to mod! Here's some pics of the car in its "stock" form.

bruce, thats a family car. see what happens. you meet a lady, move to chicago to be with her, than boom, there goes the dak and a family sedan appears, well good luck with the import, keep us posted in the winter to see how it goes. were you able to take off any aftermarket stuff, or just let everything go?
That's a great car. I almost went for one myself. Greatest FWD turbo'd car on the road. Very nice. The mazdaspeed3 is the small fwd turbo tuner car perfected IMO. Mazda did a great job with this car. It's affordable too, worth every penny.
The mazdaspeed3 much like the SRT4, responds to mods as most turbo'ed 4 bangers do, amazingly. Gone are your days of 8hp for an intake like on the dakota, I think you can dyno out near 30hp for an intake on the speed3, lol. Now THAT makes a $250 mod worth the $. The car is great stock tho.
The ECU on the speed3 actively controls 1st and 2nd gear boost to keep maximum traction right? A big issue on the SRT4 without an active boost controller, traction was a big issue with that car.
Good luck.

who ever buys the truck is getting a good one, personally, i would have bought the subaru wrx sti. more optiond out there, something about over 500 hrspwr with turbo set up tuning and all wheel drive, just gets me thinking.
Yeah but you can't get the STI new for 23,000.
