E-fan's on
The DERALE / SPAL unit enables the system to operate automatically correct???? Does it get it's signal from whatever told the fan clutch to engage? Sorry, not so up to date on this topic. It seems reliable enough. But I don't want it to be something that gives the wife trouble...or screws up on a long trip. She had trouble with the light switch.
The DERALE Eric is talking about needs to be adjusted once. After that it will automatically come on at the correct temperature, it will then run the fan until the temp drops to (not 100% sure on this number) 10 degrees less than the turn on temp. It also has an input for the AC + so it will turn the fan on when the AC is on.
Yeah +1 on that the only reason I haven't done one yet is because I'm not THAT savy at cars... I mean I can do basic stuff and anything I have directions for... but idk jack about electrical or exactly how the fan system works in a car/truck... so I'd do it, I just don't trust myself... same reason I have a 180 T-stat which I've had for 2 years and Haven't installed... or why I haven't painted anything myself on the truck... I'm slowly working up the courage to do the gutter guard grille LOL... I just don't want to break anything...
Remember the fan that this is replaceing was run off the serpentine belt using a centrifical clutch not an electrical one, so you have to add the derale or equivalent to operate the fan.
20 amp fans can be had for under 50 bucks so this entire mod should be under 80 bucks.
