Hidden Winch for 2006 Dakota?
Hi all,
i am a newbie and was wondering if anyone could help me out finding a winch for my 06 Quad Cab?
I really like the hidden winch that i see for the Ram.....but what about us Dakota owners?
Any help is much appreciated!

well, a link to the ram would be helpfull...
are you looking to hide on the front? (I am guessing)
if so... there is a lot of space behind the grill (where we are all mounting our lights and such.) you might be able to get a small winch in there...
I would need to know winch dimensions to be able to say for certain...

hmm, looks like that goes in the tow hook spot on the ram...
I will take some basic measurements for ya today with some pictures... Then you can try to find a winch that would fit the spot. Most likely going to have to fab up everything... but at least it will help with the design process/ or tell if its even a possibility.back in a while with info.

This is much similar to the design on the 2500 Powerwagon (my ultimate dream truck). Basically, you can cut the existing bumper, and weld in supports and a mounting solution. This would require you to relieve the bumper cover for a cable through hole and sliders. Depending on the choice of winch, and choice of line, the install could be a little easier with the components. I have already drawn up a few ideas for something like this.
Based on analysis, I am going to use a Superwinch with the synthetic line.
By the way, welcome to Dodgeforum. There are many knowledgable members here and a lot of helpful information.

Ok, I know the pics are not the best... but I tried to get shots that might help...
The ideal spot for it, I think, is in the hollow area below that cross bar where we are all mounting our lights...
There is a decent amount of room in there. and you can make a plate to mount where the front license plate goes, that holds the guides and rollers (or whatever they are actually called) thats assuming you dont have to have a front plate.
without pulling off the bumper, this is the best i could come up with...
The "tub" area is around 26 inches wide at the widest point. About 9 inches deep. and around 20 inches tall... those are rough measurements... but as you can tell from the pics... they should be somewhat close...
