Funny 'Auto Zone' Nos Story...
lol im glad we dont have an autozone near me
i just go to the local store for any parts,m none of these big name national brand stores, soooo much better than any of them, and great service w/ knowledgeable staff, no kids, these guys are like 40-50 and have been there as long as i can remember probably the guy that owns the place

I try to go to NAPA for as much as I can. I can handle getting oil, some parts & filters (Purolator PureONE, etc) from Pep Boys if I'm feeling lazy. Pep Boys also has reasonably good-quality tools for decent prices, too. It's too bad 2/3 of their store is auto-bling stuff.

but watch out for some of those prices... woooeeee.
Most NAPA parts are worth it.
I'd rather pay $20 more for a water pump, than to have to do the job twice. (First time to install a crappy AutoZone one, next to install a NAPA one like I should have done the first time)
I do get parts from O'Reilly. They were the only place locally I could get MOOG from.
And Advance for Purolator filters.

Eh, its just kids trying to make a buck ya know. NAPA IS pretty good, i think that they have a tighter hiring process. It seems like autozone will hire anyone who has interest in motor vehicles. You just have to be careful what you buy there. They ARE trained to use that computer isntead of listening to you about part numbers, which is anoying lol.
I once went through 2 altenators from autozone for a 93 corolla, they just didnt last, finally i payed the premium to buy it at the toyota parts counter, and it lasted until i sold the car. I guess there is truth to it!

Oh if I'm buying parts like alternator, water pump, etc it's either OEM or Napa (Unless there is a good aftermarket one I've been wanting then I'll find that). My grandfather started the electrical company my parents now run over 30 years ago and he's always used Napa parts on the trucks if anything needed replacing. Long as you go with their OEM equivalent or better you'll get good parts (they do sometimes have a bargain version which they tell you up front is not as good as OEM quality, I avoid those).
Oh, and Frenchy, I do believe that I will use NAPA Gold on the truck from now on. I've been waiting for my next oil change to make the switch.
