Did a cross-refrence and found out that the Dakota 4.7 uses the same filter as the Ram. And we have found a larger one. Look at the last page of the thread for correct P/N.

Our gift from the 2nd gen Ram guys!!

Thanks. I am not sure if anyone is interested in running more then 5 qts. in there dakota, but for someone doing extended drains this is pretty decent info.

Well the 4.7 does take 6 quarts. Not 5. So, can it be a bad thing?

The owner's manual calls for six quarts in the 4.7

Maybe the oil capacity has changed over the years but my '05 4.7L takes 6 quarts also.

Mine takes 7 qts, but the manual says 6 qts W.T.F.
