What size is your factory piping? If it's the same size his should work. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they used the same muffler on both.

Ok, here is where I am at with this so far...

1. Front pipe- $118.56
2. Muffler- $132.00
3. Resonator exhaust- $53.40
4. Tailpipe- 05' is $308.40, 06' is $118.00

Now I have 2 delimas...one is on the diagram on dodgeparts.com is only shows 3 pieces, no resonator, so can someone out there confirm that there are 3 or 4 separate pieces for the exhaust. The second is since the 05' tailpipe is so expensive, can I use the 06' one instead (are they the same)?

The parts catalog I have shows 3 pieces as well, front pipe, muffler and rear pipe. It has the tailpipe and resonator grouped as one piece. It doesnt show the actual resonator, but it calls it out as "Tailpipe and Resonator"

I cant see where 05 to 06 would differ. I cant think of a difference there would be. Maybe there isnt a rear res? cause like on my 07 there was no front resonator just a rear one, unlike some that had one on the front and one on the back.

On my '06 4.7 there are 4 counting the muffler and including the Y with the Cats on it. From the rear to the front: End piece with resonator (#1), the muffler (#2), and other piece with a resonator (#3), Y pipe with cats (#4).

Yeah, I was just trying to get from the Y back. How am I finding 4 parts then? Only 3 would definitely be better and cheaper, and I didn't think there was a difference in the 05 and 06 tailpipe either. Hopefully some more folks will chime in so I can make a more informed decision, or if someone has a better idea to find out other than going to a dealership please let me know.

hey man, i was wondering if i could barrow your VIN # ? so i could get a front pipe for my 05 with out the resonator from dodgeparts.com like you said yours was. what do you think of the cherry bomb after having it a while ? any resonance in the cab ? any power gains from the muffuler that you can tell ? thanks man .... sorry for the old thread do the club cab and quad cab have the same exhaust since they are the same wheel base ?

I PMed you... I am still impressed with the Cherrybomb, its has a nice sound to it, and the cab drone is very minimal. Its def louder than stock but nothing like straights, flows, etc. I cant really say how much performance I have gained other than the engine feels like its been freed up after the install. Its much more free flowing. I cant say exactly whether clubs and quads are the same, but I would guess they are because of the wheel base and etc. I mean the only difference is the cabs and the boxs, right Hope that helps

I think you could save alot of money by having a local shop make you up something. There's no big secret to it. If they use metric pipe, they could make something to adapt. After that, a nice quiet OEM equivalent or aftermarket muffler, and you're on your way.

There are plenty of big German cars that use 2.25 or 2.5 (57mm or 64mm ) exhaust pipe, I'm sure.

Dude, that is way too much money to go back stock! Why don't you just go back partially till you return. How long is your leave in Germany?

If it were me I'd get just an OEM "like" muffler cause any will do. It doesn't have to be that king kong one. Or maybe even Flowmaster's Hushpower muffler. Grab some muffler clamps and a tube spreader then cut a section under the bed that allows the assembly to fit in front of the rear tire or where you can maybe take advantage of a stock hanger. Cut off the remaining back and keep for later if you want and just bolt that on without the resonator or the tail pipe.

If you don't go with an original muffler then the resonator may not help anyhow since it is designed to silence out a certain frequency band that the muffler cannot.

Also, depending on where your current muffler is, I've heard of exhaust shops putting glasspacks behind louder mufflers like flowmasters to make them quieter. That may be a cheaper alternative too.
