Removing Dash pieces to install stereo
Can anyone give me some information about what parts of the dash I need to remove to install my aftermarket deck?
Is it just the center piece that comes in various colors, wood grain, black, silver, etc? What do I need to remove and how?
How is the factory stereo installed and how is it easily removed?
where did you access the cigarette lighter 12v line from, and which line did you use? (color)
Finally, with your deck powered by the cig. lighter line, when you turn your car off, does the radio turn off (does it cut the power)?
When using the cig lighter power source, does the dimmer on the stereo work with headlights turn on?
Thanks!

There are 2 screws at the bottom of the dash bezel your are, asking about, I always use a very short Phillips screwdriver to remove them. Then from the bottom gently pull towards you when there is enough room I put my fingers between the bezel and dash and work your way up. After that just unplug all the heater controls, ABS light, 4x4 switch, and I saved the best for last the cigarette lighter which should answer your last question. Hope that helps.
Oh wow man that sounds really really easy. Do you happen to remember which wire to tap into on the cig lighter? (theres 2 right?) Do I need to get some wire to extend the power wire from the deck down to the cig lighter wire? What did you use to tap into the cig lighter wire? Suggest a method? They make little wire tap ends right, that just snap over the wire and pinches through?
I cut the wire and soldered it back together then shrunk wrapped it , use a crimp connector I would personally not recommend wire taps they fail way to much. Yes you will need some wire and If you look back at my previous post I think I said what colors the wire was but I cannot recall right now and no way to check, Good luck
