Default Tire Air Pressure

LT tires in my case BFG AT TA KO will take up to 65 psi. With such series of tires would you still stick to the door sticker listed pressure? If not what is best PSI to go with?

I would stick to the sticker maybe 5psi over it max, it may ride rougher handle different with more pressure. Not too big of a difference but noticeable.

I think I am running 40 right now. You just dont want to overinflate or you'll wear the middle out and has less contact with the road

stick with the tire manufacture inflation specs. anything under will cause truck to under steer and nose dive real bad in corners if underinflated, like trying to turn with a flat tire. stock tires are 35 psi from factory but go upto 44 psi, i would try 55psi and see if you like it, or just get intouch with the local shop and see what they recomend

Yea just like superdak said I'd try 50-55 PSI and see what feels good. I had the same tires and ran them at 55 psi. Am now running my duelers at 50...

FWIW,

Several years ago many Honda Valkyire owners were having trouble with the OEM Dunlop tires delaminating...come to find out Honda had recommeded a lower tire pressure than Dunlop recomemded to 'increase ride comfort'.

Moral?

Don't trust the vehicle manufacturer for tire pressure recommendations...

I just threw on some bf goodwrench A/T tires I had stores for a few years. There 265/75s with about 50% tread life left. (which works out perfect because I am wearing 265/75s anywway) I got them from a buddy at work who was upsizing his silverados tires from 265/75 to 285/75, so of course I jumped all over the 4 free tires.

I finally put them on because my chapparral AP tires were at about 10%.

I am running them at about 35psi I believe, that what the tire shop filled them too. I heard they may wear faster at that lower pressure, but I am not too sure, they seem fine so I am leaving it.

it probably also depends on what ply of tire it is. I do quite a bit of hauling with my dak so i go with a heavier ply and like a nice stiff tire, but thats just me. And if a tire is too flat it will increase the resistance and thus decrease mileage

Thanks All. I'm going to try 45 for now. They are a stiff tire pretty heavy duty side walls.
35 seems a bit soft.

I run my LT's around 37, just had the tires rotated and balanced before I moved down to NJ and they commented that they were wearing very well so I'll keep running this pressure.
