Follow-up to clutch and new issue
So I replaced the hydraulic assembly on my '05 V8 6-speed and all is well. Kragen was going to take 5 days to get it so I wound up getting it from Dodge. They quoted $147 but with some begging I got it to $110. Not too bad. Installation wasn't bad either, just a little tricky to route everything through.
New issue though. About every third time I come to a stop the truck will die. It restarts right away and then idles ok. If I catch it and feather the throttle it won't die and then idles ok. Only dies if I let it return to idle by itself. While doing the clutch job I disconnected the battery and the two main connectors by the relay box under the hood. I know sometimes these things have to sort of "relearn" after disconnect so my question is, is this normal and will it improve by itself? I know just enough about OBDII to be dangerous! Oh, no codes and the problem didn't exist before disconnect. TIA.

Hmm that's pretty odd. I'm not real clear on how much "talking" the engine and transmission do; I mean does the engine computer ever know what gear it's in? Does it know if the clutch is in our out? Also, since you have an '05, you still have direct throttle control. Mine is drive by wire...
The only time I've had engine idle issues was when I was getting used to my truck, and had a few near-stalls. The engine wouldn't die, but would throw the CEL light, shudder, shake and refuse to smooth out. I'd have to shut it off and restart.
Sounds ECU related, since it all happened after the battery was disconnected. Might as well check your throttle body, make sure nothing is loose or gunked up. I'd bet its the computer.
