Good work sleds! When I said I was looking in the Manual I was talking about the Repair Manual which has nothing but torque specs. I didnt think about looking in Parts Manual, but good find, I found it on pages 281-284. I attached a complete break down for ya Frenchy which shows you every part of your trans. including the drain plug (screw - WTF? lol)

If you go to Amsoil's website and look on the top right they have an application guide, they'll helpfully tell you what the capacities are in addition to what type of fluid you need:

1. After refill check oil level.
2. With engine automatic transmission operating temperature, shift through all
gears. Check fluid level in NEUTRAL and add fluid
as needed.

5. Fill no higher then 5/8 inch below plug hole.

um...isn't ATF automatic transmission fluid...

Shouldn't you need gear oil?

that's weird...

every manual I've changed oil in used gear oil...odd to see hydraulic fluid used for a manual tranny...

it says it's used so that the transmission shifts smoother...

i hope so...

I'd check for a red tint anyway while draining if it were me. it's viscosity would be pretty obvious compared to motor oil or a 90w gear oil.

I know a lot of the neon srt4 boys were switching to ATF+4...

It's what the trans comes with... I just don't like mopar fluids...

rather swap to a different brand...

I've got valvoline ATF full synthetic ATF+4...

says "recommended for Chrysler vehicles.... with shudder protection"
