It looks like I have to take off 3 bolts on each side. Problems is these are the same bolts that seem to be holding the body to the chassis. I really don't want to mess with them. Am I reading it right?

I have this vision of me and the cabin sliding off the chassis on the highway. What size bolts are they? I tried metric and SAE and couldn't get a tight fit. Mine is an 08. They don't seem to be terribly large for what they are supposed to be holding down.

its probably metric. believe it or not, thats all that holds the cab on. they're pretty big, and when you put them on, you'll want to torque the crap out of them, else the step bars will feel flimsey.

17mm doesn't fit and 19mm is too big. Guess which size I don't have? Is there a source I can look up bolt sizes and torques?

You'll want to torque those body mounts to 55 or 60ft-lbs. I too was a sceptic about the body mounts, but that is how you do it and everything is fine. Just retorque the mounts a few times over the next couple of weeks and everything should be good. The new bolts that come with the steps might be a 19mm head? And they should also be longer than the factory bolts to allow for the brackets being mounted to the bottom of the lower body mounts.

I think the actual torque is 64 ft lbs. And I was a sceptic too. But that is how you do it.

Yeah I am unable to find the exact bolt size for ya... as for the torque, 70ft-lbs seems to be the most common torque on most the body parts from the shop manual. So the above guys are close enough as well... good luck!

Thanks all who responded. I put them on yesterday! Bolt size is 18mm. No real surprises. I torqued them down to 100 ft.lb. The replacement bolts are much heftier than stock.
