Default Hitch wiring question

I plan on buying a curt or valley hitch. The kinda that just bolts on.

That's not my question though... I need to get some wiring under there!!!
I only need a 4 plug, cuz i'm mainly going to tow boats. There are some wiring kits out there, but they say I need a tail light power kit or something.

I also went to a dealer near my house, and they said the same thing, I need to get a power relay or something for it because the stock setup won't power the lights - it'll overheat and burn up my dash.

Do these kits come with that or what?!
http://www.amazon.com/LiteMate-1991-...0477446&sr=8-6

and THIS page says (after you select without oe wiring and the price) that a "Tail light converter" is needed.

I really need to know what's up with this, and if it's as simple as running a seperate wire from the battery with a relay, or WHAT?!?!

I can wire it all up myself if needed, and get the 10.99 kit from autozone, then add in a relay, but I was fond of all the plug in connectors that are insulated etc. ESPECIALLY because of the likelyhood of getting wet when putting the boat in.

So, relay box? homemade? kits come with it? am i doing something totally wrong?
Thanks guys, you've always helped me out!

To be honest, I have never cared for the "splice in" kits. I purchased the factory harness and installed it. It wasn't bad at all. Although, you do have to solder in one wire.

I did the "splice in" wiring at a local shop here, that was over two years ago, no problems here.

but if I had know I could get one through the dealer I prob would have gone that way

ha I'd say just get out your pile of trailer wiring taps, 4 12 VDC SPST relays, and the pigtail connector with some lead. Run the supply side of the switching posts to a common FUSED line to the battery post, like you would for an amp. But other than that, do for the OEM kit.
