Angry shifting trouble

having trouble shifting my 06 dakota out of park. start truck press brake pedel put in gear. sounds good but it wont come out of park. seems like the shift lever is locked in place, if i pump the brakes it seems to help. does it wether its hot cold first start of the day or any start after. will even do it if i stop driving and put it in park without shutting it off. this is a random act sometimes i can go for weeks without a problem. can someone please help. truck is out of warrenty

Mine seems to do the same thing on occasion. What I've noticed is that it happens when I'm trying to shift before, or maybe as, I put my foot on the brake? If I let everything go and take my foot off the brake, then put my foot on the brake first, prior to trying to shift it, everything seems to work fine. It's like if there is a load on the shift mechanism, there's not enough poop in the release system to let it work properly? That's my take on it anyway....
