The back of the truck is sitting a little higher because I have installed airbags in the rear because I tow a trailer from time to time. In the picture the airbags are about 15 psi. It is an easy way to lift the back of these trucks and a very simple installation. Total installation time was less than 1 hour with simple tools. With the Firestone airbags I put on I can lift the rear up to about 6".

I got them at a local truck specialty shop. Well actually they specialized in big rigs but they were able to order bags for smaller vehicles as well. The set ran me about $270 without a compressor. However, it came with fittings and hoses so u can mount the fillups wherever you want. I mounted them on the rear bumper for easy access.

Hello,
I am new so please be patient with me. I was reading a lot of this and other threads and wanted to clarify something I read. I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota SLT (4.7) 4x4, and it is all stock. My current tire size is 245/70R16 and I want to put 265/70R16 on it. Will there be any rubbing due to this increase of tire size, or will it fit without rubbing? I really don't want the rubbing experience. Thank you.

Wow, how did you find this old thread?
Anyway, yeah, 265/70/16 was a stock size tire option, there will be no issues fitting them on, none at all, so go right ahead.

Welcome aboard.

..... just because I had and old set lying around, I tried 265/70 R17 - and those rub in the front fenders on even slight turns. Therefore anything smaller than that will fit fine. The stock tire size, largest available, are what came on my '05 Dakota is 265/65R17. Despite having plenty of other standard truck sizes available, I finally gave in and ordered a brand new set of General HTS60 for it in the correct size. Further, as fyi for the winter I use 245/70R17 blizzak

I would recommend getting some all-terrain tires. They will give you good traction in the snow and be beefier than your regular tires. As for tire size, I think you can check https://carwheelbase.com/dodge/dakota/ for more information. Hope this helps!

Yes, 2wd and 4wd have the same exact clearance. Your 2wd will fit those 265/70/16 tires perfectly. With stock wheels, there will be no issue at all.

Unless, of course, you change your wheels to some aftermarket wheels with some crazy offset.

Welcome aboard.
