lol....this thread has now made me think of my truck towing my boat (about 4,500lbs with gas and trailer), quad in the bed, camping gear dispersed everywhere, and 5 passengers in the crew cab. I know I was pushing the load ratings! The engine was fine...it was more of a stopping issue!

I don't have a 5th wheel trailer, I have a 2009 Jayco 17C Ex-Port hybrid with a weight distribution hitch that works well. It weighs around 2900 lbs dry. Living in Colorado, if I head West, I am heading uphill...and that is pretty much were we go. I have looked at other vehicles and trailers (including some small 5th wheels) and wondered if it would be a good idea. Every time I think about it, the answer is "No". Our hybrid works well for us and can be pulled and, more importantly, stopped with my Dakota.

I think I'll check that JayCo trailer out. Looks kinda nice.
