Sorry guys your right Dodge is near perfect and its my imagination. Even the dealer has noted on how well I keep my truck and he had to deal with the rust under warranty before the oil pan. Ok fine there is no point that there are real problems with these trucks with this site. But many have said these trucks are poor quality from engine noise, brakes vibrations, rust you name it so it’s far from just me. What the hell what’s a little rust on old 07.

I have an 06 Dak, and an 06 Mazda. Same miles on both, same conditions. I have had zero issue with the Mazda, the Dak is a constant battle with rust. I have owned Fords, Nissans and Hondas that have had zero rust issues. I have also owned Chevys and Hondas with big rust issues. The Dak is leaning toward the latter......but I treat is like a baby, so the rust is quickly fixed Long story short, some cars rust more than others....my Dak rusts more. I'm happy for you if yours does not.

This is the first truck that I have to go under and spray it with black spray paint to slow down the cancer. I don't take the truck to the beach or anything. I have noticed that the exposed machined surfaces on my motor are starting to rust as well.

My last truck was a 93 Toyota Pickup with 215,000 miles on it when I traded it in. I drove it for the last 9 years until I bought my Dak in May. It was driven on the salty winter roads of Illinois/Missouri, and taken on lots of late night gravel road trips. And I drove it hard, I could fish tail back forth down gravel for a long ways. The Toyota had rusted wheel-wells at all 4 corners, but the frame was in rather good condition. Only surface rust on the frame. I believe that the old Toyota could have ran for another 100k easy.

I will be more cautious with my new truck, and check closely for other rust this weekend (when it warms up a bit). But other than the drive-shaft (which sounds like it is supposed to have surface rust) I haven't found another spot of rust. And I've changed the motor and diff oil so I crawled around under the front and rear of the truck recently.

My '07 is rust free except for the driveshaft and the dings and chips in the bed. The frame looks very good considering it lives in upstate NY (road salt central). I wash the salt off regularly and she's good to go.

Has anyone else seen rust starting to form on the block? I'm wondering if it is something I should worry about. Should I hit it with some high temp paint or something? I also noticed some cancer on the front of the oil pan. Very little, but I am going to scrape it tomorrow they spray paint it.

I would imagine its possible from the constant heating and cooling that goes on within the metals... I wouldnt even think of worrying about it.
