2007 Dodge Dakota Stick Shift
I have been looking for another stick shift truck ever since I got rid of my ranger 3 years ago, and bought my ram 1500 auto.
The thing that I am asking is this, where does the stick on the 6 speeds default to? By that I mean for example that if you drive a 5 speed, it will always default back to the shift section for 3-4, basically the center of the shift pattern.
I have driven 6 speeds before, but have never found one that I really liked except ones that I only heard about. The several cummins that i have drove for work over the year default back to an area between 1-2 and 3-4. The thing that I hated was the fact that since it did not default in the middle section, I would often accidentially skip 3 and go directly to 5.
So where does the dakota 6 speed default to when you take your hand off the shifter. I have one that I could test drive, but it is over 100 miles away. There is no point in going if I am going to hate the pattern on the shifter.
Thanks in advance guys!

It feels very natural once you get used to it. Nice firm feel and good ratios for fuel efficient cruising or working it on the highway. I drive a 5 speed 2500 Ram at work, and I find the 6 speed is a better fit for modern engines, which rev higher and produce less low end torque.
V8 + 6 speed was for 2005 and 2006 model years only. You can get a 330 HP V8 2008 Ram with a stick though!
IMO, the stick shift is the only choice for a V6.

I had the 6 spd on my 05 and the shift pattern seemed totally natural to me from the first time I drove it. And I've been driving sticks my whole life (mostly 5 spds). The only thing I noticed was I NEVER used 6th gear other than highway driving. 55mph+.
