Default Front end vibration.

Hey Guys,

I need some help with my Grandpa's truck. Its an 05 4x4 quad cab 4.7. It has a shimmy in the steering wheel. It is the worst at speeds between 30 and 50 mph. He had the tires balanced and rotated and it made it better for a while. It has since worsened again . The wheel almost walks from side to side. I have jacked it up and checked it over, but I am not very familiar with the truck. Any help would be greatly appreciated as he and I are both stumped.

If you balanced the wheels and it was better....then worse again, I'd look at the tires. Are they shot? Did you get an alignment? Did you throw a wheel weight? Did your grandpa smack a curb and do one of the following?:

Bend a wheel
Bust a tie-rod end, inner or outter / worn tie-rod ends
Bad ball joint
Bad steering rack
Bust a bearing / worn bearing (doubtful)

Any of these problems will be amplified if you still have the stock shocks.....if you do, they are probably bad too.
