It's needed for them to operate properly without flickering and other weird behavior on our trucks. It's a bit of extra wiring but nothing to really worry about.

The relay makes it so your battery powers the ballasts, not your headlight wiring.

They use the headlight connector for signal to turn on, but they are not hard to install...
