Winter gas, snow tires, and about 400# in the bed gets me down to about 19 or 20, 20% city 80% highway.

All time record, with 40 PSI tires, careful driving, almost all highway miles, and 60 MPH max speed was a touch over 25 MPG.

Summer mileage is usually around 22.

It's just not that enjoyable to drive so slowly.

when i got the truck it was getting 16.
i,ve started useing synthetic 5w-30,put in a k&n drop in and got a si/so flowmaster 40
im just tryin to fix the things the factory did wrong. whats that shoebox size thing on the intake? i replaced it with a wide hose.

Probably the intake resonator, designed to reduce noise from the intake tract.

Since I drive a 100 miles a day and 99% highway I set the cruise at 80mph and move right along LOL, thats one good thing coming home at midnight no road congestion part of the reason I went to a 2nd shift.. Cya Slick

I know where you're coming from NOLA. since we get the same mileage as a fullsize, why not have the hemi and all the extra room. I guess you have to look at the positives like easy parking and having something different.

My last tank I managed 11 mpg. 100% city driving, but I like to play in the snow and see how far I can drive my truck sideways while driving down a straight road. If I warm the truck up in the morning it is only for a few minutes and usually not at all. This is the first tank below 14mpg. I usually get just under 15. Highways and I get almost 21.

Nola, doesnt the EPA estimate 14-19 mpg for our truck? I always wonder why people go crazy over getting standard mileage, when that is normal at least for some city driving. I too wanted a Hemi Ram, but the one I wanted was 10k more so here I am with the Dakota which I now love. Sometimes I have to squeeze this truck into parking spots, forget about it with the Ram.

That's all true, but I didn't have a choice. This is my first car, and the reason a full size wasn't considered was because they didn't want to get a "gas-guzzler," so this was their alternative. So why not have something that gets the same gas mileage AND can be modded to your hearts content?
