Default Anyone had issues with their MIL light?

today my Malfunction indicator light came one in my 07 Dak. At first the stealership thought it was the battery when i talked to them over the phone(becuase my battery died this morning) but when i went in they said my battery and charging system was good.

They said the next thing i could do is put it in for a diagnostic test at the price of 98.00.

I will probably do that sometime this weekend but was wondering if you guys had issuses with this before or if their were any checks that i could do to try to make it go off.

The bad thing about the light is the said it could be on for almost 200 different reasons and as small as a loose gascap.

thanks for the tips in advance

probably from the dead battery, i only had my 08 for about two weeks when i killed the battery for the first time, (using the head lights w/out engine running) and it threw the code, was on for about three days then went away

This will reset your light and clear out the complete memory in the ECU.

Disconnect the positive cable from the battery.

Take the cable end (From Pos cable) and touch it to a ground for 30 seconds.

Reconnect positive cable to battery.

Start vehicle and let idle a min or two.

Drive normal.

Its the battery and the dead start that illuminated the light! You can go to Autozone or similiar that have free scans to find out the codes.

Well, now that you know what the problem was, and everything is peachy, im going to say the same thing.

My brother left a small power inverter plugged in on my 08 in the middle compartment, nothing plugged into the intverter, however the inverter was still on, and in a few days it had time to drain the batter to 9% left. Couldnt start the truck. I was already late for work..... Found all this later the next day. Charged the battery with my brothers battery charger, worked good. Light came on thought it was the tranny. Checked the manual found out its a "anything could be wrong with your truck" light. 3 days later of driving, I refueled and the light was no more. So ya, it was the battery :P
