Default Magnum, 4.7ho, 4.7?? vin code

Ok correct me if im wrong but i thought the magnum was the HO motor? I have a magnum but my vin has an " N " code motor. Which is the regular 4.7. The " J " Code Vin is the HO motor.

?? What am I missing here. (did i get screwed?!?)

You could say they are both Magnums, just ones the HO which offers a ton of different stronger internals, more horsepower, and etc. The HO has the J in the vin and the normal 4.7 Magnum has the N

Not sure why you think you were screwed. The N motor is the commonly found 4.7 in the dakotas unless you special ordered, or what not.

I just thought the magnum was the HO motor thats all. So what makes it a magnum then if its a standard 4.7.

Thats just what Chrysler Branded the Dodge side 3.7 and 4.7L as, the Next Generation "Magnum". One the Jeep side they are known as the "Powertech" engines.
