According to the Superchips tech, the difference between the Flashpaq and the Cortex is
1) Cortex works for both gasoline and diesel. Flashpaq is gasoline only
2) Cortex offers a warranty

You are correct. The 3950 and 3865 have about the same applications...with the exception of the Diesel, this was definitely different back in the day.

I went with the 3950 even though it cost a little more. If I ever want to sell it, a lot more people should want it because it applies to chrysler gas and diesel vehicals.
