yes you can

 

As I stated, I was getting a rattle at the front left strut because the center nut on the strut shaft wasn't very tight or so I thought. My mechanic said the strut and strut mount were fine so they had to add a washer to make up for the difference in play. Definitely odd but no more rattle.
