Default Help!!!!

So i was cflushing out my rad and changed the fluid to all purpose antifreeze beacause i hurd stories of DEX Coool causeing problems like clogging rads and becoing acidic. I talked to the guy at Advanced auto and they said those stories are correct and he recomend3ed using all purpose. I put a 180 degree stat, Brend new, in it and i took it around the block and it overheats instantly

Hahah well it opens up wen the engine gets to a certain temp. Then it lets the fluid in. If you put it in backwards it wont read the temp and wont open up to let fluid in to cool the engine

I heard the whole thing about DEXCOOL. I also heard of Chevy guys changing over to the green stuff, rather then the factory fill of DEXCOOL. Somthing about poor water pump reliability with DEXCOOL.

I don't know enough about all that though.

It's safe to just use a different type of coolant??

Just make sure you flushed it out very well, if you're not sure flush it again. DexCool and the green stuff do NOT mix, another round of coolant is definitely cheaper than the results of mixing them.

I've been weighing the switch myself, the owner's manual does specifically warn that our trucks are not designed for use with propylene glycol coolant though.
