Is the bolt hitting the steering or is it your socket wrench? Try using a standard wrench.

Or try flexing the suspension with a jack. I changed my 06 a few months ago, and the only problem I remember is trying to get the cover back on without messing up the RTV. Practice putting it back on a few times before applying the RTV.

I had the bolt all the way loose by hand and thought I could bring it out with the cover no luck ended up cleaning the best I could and resealing it in place no leaks yet what a pain!!! I used the gray silicone we use at work for oil pan gaskets so it should not leak I hope!!! I was 1 of the bolts on the drivers side..next time I'll just suck the old out and put in the new lesson learned! I don't think flexing the suspension would have helped the center of the diff looks solid mounted to me??

Yea but at least you got to clean off the magnet on the bottom of the pan this way. I would imagine there is a little more build up at the first fluid change. What oil did you put back in?

Just curious, and ensuring you knew the front and rear were different.
