Default Axle Problems on 05 Dodge Dakota

I've got a 2005 Dakota that I bought new from California Dodge that has had axle problems since it broke 1,000 miles. I have had all the guts in it replaced twice and seems to go away for about a month before starting back up.
Problem is the dealership is closed for good and wondering if another dealership will honor the repair work that was done on it? If not what kind of bill could i expect to have fixed again.

I would suggest calling Dodge directly. In your owners manual or even www.dodge.com you should be able to find some phone numbers.

I will move this to the 3rd Generation Dakota Sub-Forum.

Which rear end do you have? What are the problems you've been having?

any dodge dealer will honor the work, all your info is in the main frame computer. the dealership will search the records for the truck and find out everything has been fixed under warrenty

If the problem cant be resolved after several atemps, you may have a lemon. Existing problems are usually warrantied forever, way out of the normal warranty range, due to it being an "unresolved problem". Any dealer should continue to work on the truck.

Default Thanks

I could not fine the specifics on the rear end but it has the standard 3.7 v6/4-speed automatic.
I have a appointment this coming tuesday at the Santa Maria dealership. Should be interesting to say the least.
It's just kinda funny how one dealership (Goeckner Bros) is awsome and the next one completely sucks.
Thanks to everyone that has replied.

Default Estimates

Well the Santa Maria Dealership said that since the warranty is over that I'll have to pay out of pocket. For $2200 they said they can fix it and guarantee it. I decided to decline the repair work (and their guarantee) and get a hold of Dodge directly. Well David told me to fax the receipts so that he can look over them. Well two faxes and a couple of voice mails later i'm still waiting.
Decided to take the truck to a local trusted shop and I'm looking at 1400. I guess if that is the service Dodge is offering I'll be owning a Toyota next.

Why not just search junk yards for an entire new rear axle assembly and replace the whole thing? It would cost a fraction of those estimates you're getting!

And if you go buy your Toyota, but don't be surprised when the whole rear axle goes missing after the frame rusts through and lets go of it!

Default Axle TSB

There was a TSB on that model with the 8" rear end due to vibration caused while braking that was due to a problem with the axle shafts. Don't know if it was ever elevated to a recall. Doesn't your truck have the 7/70,000 warranty?
