Default Odd things that are electrical...

So, I had a friend that knows way more about electrical in autos than I do take a peek at my truck this past week to figure out the spasm of brake light issues I have been having. They decide when they want to work, not me.

Anyway, after replacing the burnt out third brake light and finding the flat plug for the trailer plug corroded out, he was finally able to copy the sporadic non-working brake lights. Replacing the brake switch seems to be the trick here.

Now for the very odd part. While he was under the dash, good thing he's the right size for getting under there, he sees that the neutral switch is just hanging there. Not connected to anything. Why would this be? Do these come loose on their own? I don't know if was still working or not. I never tried to start it while in drive. I'm going to get more detail on how it was in there when I go get it this evening. It just seems odd that it would be not in place or connected as it should be.

Turns out it was the brake lock out that was just hanging there. Guy says it looks like someone pried it off some time in the past. I know I didn't. I bought the truck with a little over 4k on it, but you'd figure the dealership would have checked something like this out...

Okay, I know that's a funny....

It was wrapped in the wires under there and it just popped right back on. Oddest thing....
