Default Hey guys... new here...

Hey guys, I just got a 05 Dakota quad cab 4x4 with the 4.7 V8. While it's a big upgrade from my little 2wd s-10. There's alot more to break too. lol.

I have quite a few questions... when traveling over uneven terrain, the front end sounds awfull... is this common? What should I check first? I has a brand new rack and pinion and power steering and drives and runs great, just pops real lound in the front.

Next, check engine light is on.... P0406 I think... something about the EGR?

And finally Seat Belt light is always on, no dinging, no blinking, just on all the time, While I'm buckled.

And on a side note, I'd like to program my garage doors to open with the buttons on my dakota buttons... but don't have a owners manual to know how to program them... Is there anyway to download a pdf owners manual or could someone tell me how to program the buttons to my garage door?

I know that's alot of questions for one post, just answer whatever you may know. I appreciate it, thanks guys, looking forward to this site.

well the banging is prolly your ball joints they are junk on these trucks. Get a moog replacement they are garrenteed for life and greasable. And my EGR had to replaced too im not sure if its normal tho. BTW if you find out its not your ball joints check you motor mounts hah

Welcome to the dodge forum!

Ball joints are probably the culprit in your front end. I had one replaced last year and now I have to get the other replaced. The front ends have a lot of problems.

For the seat belt, look under the seat to see if the belt sensor is plugged in.

Replace the front shocks! The factory shock are so weak that the excessive bounce will cause the other components to be prematurity stressed out. I have the Monroes and love them at a great price. They also have the Rancho's a bit more pricier but said to be even a bit more stout. Just do it if the previous owner had not replaced them with one of the two makes.
