Car and Driver comparison...
i saw a ridgeline before, passed us on the highway, those thigns are huge i wouldnt want something that big if i was in the market for a mid-sized pickup
theyre styling sucks too
theyre styling sucks too
Here's some intresting preformance status.
Ridgeline
1/4 mile - 17.03
60-0 - 132 Feet
Slalom - 57.2 MPH
Weight 6050 pounds
Dakota
1/4 mile - 16.93
60-0 - 131 feet
Slalom - 57.9 MPH
Weight 6010 pounds.
Both were 4x4's. So lets see there complantes were it was to heavy witch gave it poor accerliration and breaking, but it still has better numbers then the first place truck, please what B.S.

ORIGINAL: Viper-GTS
It's like a huge moving Avalanche replica with a Honda badge [&o]
They weren't just comparing it to track times. Aren't we alittle biased? lol. The interior of the Dakota gets crushed by that of the Ridgeline btw.

I know that I'm probably a little late with this post, but here's my two cents worth anyway.
I bought my Dakota based on it's merits, not on what Car and Driver posted in their magazine. I think that at times they are pretty biased with certain vehicles, ie: Honda. Of course if you look at how they rated the vehicles, they were Asian made ones at the top and the "American" made at the bottom.
I think that there are other test that they should have done to see how these trucks perform. One thing the dealer showed me upon my first test drive of the Dak was the turning radius. These things turn literally on a dime. Another thing is towing. I don't tow anything myself, but it's nice to know that if I needed to tow a decent size boat, I can.
Ridgeline: First of all, I think the truck is just FUGLY. It has a couple of innovative things like the tailgate opening two different ways, and the extra storage in the bed. Maybe that weakens the bed, I don't know, but it is a pretty cool idea.
Frontier: That truck is more in a class with the Ranger. It's too small to be considered in a Daks world. They are sporty and rugged looking if you get the right stuff for it though. Otherwise, it ain't worth mentioning it. I might consider it if I don't like the Dak anymore.
Yesterday, I parked my truck next to a Frontier QC and it looked smaller than mine. And they truly are. I've read that the Dakota has an inch more room than the Ram in the front of the cab. Hmmmm![sm=confused06.gif]
Tacoma: That truck is the same thing as the Frontier and the Ridgeline. They are way smaller than the Dak. I never have liked any of the Toyota trucks or 4 Runners. I feel like I'm sitting on the floor boards. I've never been impressed with them at all, and they're ugly too.
Colorado: This is probably the closest truck to what the Dakota is. But they are ugly as sin. Never will buy one though. Couldn't even consider it. I like the General too. I've bought mostly GM through out the years. Now I'm stuck on Dodge. I don't even know what GM was trying to do with that front grill either. Too bad. I guess the S10 didn't cut it anymore.
Dakota: I used to own a 99 Dakota Sport. I loved that truck. As a matter of fact, I cried and felt guilty about giving it up. What made me want to buy Dakota in the first place was when I worked for a dealership about five years ago, I took the one on the lot to Seattle and back to Vancouver and felt like I was driving a car, not a truck. My wife couldn't believe how smoothly my current truck drives. She said it drives better than her car.
My father-in-law complains about everything, had no complaints what so ever about my truck. They older one he said it road a little rough for his back. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law rode in the backseat from Vancouver, WA, to Brookings, OR, and they were comfortable.
So, there's my two cents worth.

No wonder GM is now in junk stock status. That Colorado is pathetic. Hard to believe that Dodge had only 2.7 % of the pick-up truck market when the first Dakota was introduced. What a great achievment for Dodge. The Ridgeline is probably a very good truck-like thingy but looks homely. I'd take the Dak for it's looks alone, but have no complaints at all with it's performance save for one... the mufflers. If there was room for another one would we have 4 under there?
I always believe, if the truck is not heavy, it's not a truck. Trucks were intended to do heavy work that cars cannot do so that is why they are much heavier. Also, I'll take a V8 anyday over a V6 that can put out the same power and maybe slightly more. Long run, v8 last longer and less maintenance and not work as hard to do the same as what the smaller V6's have to do. That is why when I bought my Durango, I opted for the 5.9 over the 5.2. I wished they brought back the 5.2 and get rid of the 4.7. 5.2's (318's) were around forever and it has a good reputation.

lil biased maybe?
