You bought it knowing that it felt underpowered to you and figured you'd get used to it? Yeah, that happens about 0% of the time.
If you think it's underpowered when you test drive it then it's only gonna feel worse when the "newness" wears off.
Power is subjective, there are a lot of guys with that same 3.7 V6 in full size Rams who love 'em and even have their own little club on here. Personally, I wouldn't be able to live with a 4.7 in a Ram, but again, to each his own.
You've got nobody to blame but yourself for choosing a truck with a power plant that is not sufficient for you.
If you want to free up a little bit of power, it wouldn't be a bad idea to take off the muffler that's actually more restrictive than your stock muffler was and to look at the routing and insulation of your CAI. If it's starting to bog on hot days, might be that your not shielding your intake from the high engine temps...

hammer i hear all that you are saying, but the wife also had a 3.7 in a grand cher. plus it was 4x4,that thing ran great no rough idle, lots of get up and go,mabe i just got a lemon.
i bought my dak in sep 06 new, just figured i would get use to it, but after 4 years and 54,000 miles it still lacks power.
i put flowmaster 40 dumped, home made air intake,3923 plugs, plugs did help idle a small amount.
it is odd because the only time it amazes me is in the morn when it is cool here like 72 in summer. it has a lot of power like v8,but soon as it is about 85 or more it looses all power, with ac on even worse like 3 cyl.

Has anyone notice that the hotter the air temp, the better mileage they get with the 3.7?? I dont know if the 4.7 guys have the same result but I have noticed..I never normally watch gas mileage but since the computer is in the truck telling my average I check it from time to time and since it seems to be on in its calculations it pretty weird because back in the day Mopars seem to run the best humid days times change.. Hot Air Intake = Lower Performance, Better Gas Mileage
Cold Air Intake = Higher Performance, Worse Gas Mileage
Cold air has more oxygen by volume. So you can stuff more fuel into the cylinder while maintaining the proper air/fuel ratio.
Introducing warmer air into the engine retards power. Less oxygen by volume means you must open the throttle further to generate a given amount of power. A wider throttle opening means reduced pumping losses. Also obviously means that less fuel is used to maintain proper A/F ratio...

oooohhhh......thats why my truck as seemed to lose power since temps have been in the steady mid-90's lately....I swear it is like a parachute has opened up sometimes I have to floor it to get anywhere. I got one of those cheapy intakes off ebay and the filter is just dumps off to the side of the motor.....right over the exhaust manifold...as homer simpson says....D'oh! Dang, still learning things after all these years....
If I am not mistaken the 3.9 v6 had 190hp and the 3.7 has 210hp.. Cya Slick
I got the v6 because i got a great deal 0 down and 0 interest for 72 months.
When the truck had stock tires with intake it felt like it had a little more power then I added exhasut and that helped to but once I added over size tires 32.8'' it went back to feeling the way it did stock. I have no complaints because I can lode up my truck with 30 constrution jack and still be able to drive the truck around. I even pulled one of my dad employees out of the sand and he has a F250 lol.
Now you can try to fit the JBA 3.7L ram header (I will be doing this once i get some extra $$). You can also get the Fastman TB, E-Fan, and I know there a 3.7L ram member doing some testing to see if he gained any power wit hthe Jet chip and i believe he is also going to test the B&G chip as well.
