Default 08 Sport Upgrades

Hello, I'm new to the forum but not new to owning a dodge or owning a dakota for that matter. Back when I was 18 my graduation present was a 00 dakota slt w/ 4.7. That thing was my baby, I put on dual cat back w/ flowmaster super 40, magnaflow high flow cat, superchips programmer, air intake, and a bbk throttle body it was a rocket. Well a few years later and a lot miles I had to sell it and bought a new toyota fj crusier. Great vehicle, but didnt have a v-8, so I saw my now vehicle on the lot and had to have it. 08 dakota 4.7 sport fully loaded. I have already bought my muffler (Spintech super pro street 2 1/2 in dual 2 1/2 out) and my tips. I'm going to have the exhaust come out before the right rear tire. I wanted to go with something different. Everyone around hear has flowmaster dual straight out the back. I like the sound of a super 40 series but I like my vehicles to be different. I also went to the local graphics store and I'm having them make me custom graphics. I'm going with the 06 dakota r/t stripe without the r/t and with the mopar M with the word Mopar under it. I made the appointments so I'll put up pictures as soon as I get the stuff done.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like your getting off to a great start! Post pics, would like to see your graphics, I've been looking to do that myself.

Order two, one for me :-)

I'm in the same boat as you sort of, previous Dakota owner with an 08 now. I recommend the superchips next, it makes a huge difference.

When I added the superchips to my other dodge I think that or the bbk throttle body made the biggest difference. I added them a with in a few days of eachother so I dont know what made the biggest difference. How does the superchips compare to the hypertech max not the econ?

I'm sure they would, those trucks have basiclly the same body lines on the beds. What I did was, I took them a picture of the 06 dakota rt stripe and a picture on the mopar decal and said I want the decal on it insted of the r/t and they just measured the lines. It would probably cost a lot less if I just ordered the convential rt stripe or a rumble bee stripe but everyone around here has the rumble bee stripe and one guy has an rt so I thought it would be nice for something different

Superchips is better because I have said so
I would say that 99% of the superchips owners have said nothing but good things and noticed a nice gain. The hypertech owners sometimes have said they noticed more of a gain with the economy model compared to the max model. There is also a dyno result of the superchips +48HP and 62trq that I would say is accurate. PLUS you get transmission controls with superchips that is amazing, it's like adding a shift kit. Don't believe Hypertech has that but could be wrong.

you can definitly tell a power difference, but the biggest things are the trans control and the torque managment, hypertech does not have the trans control
