Any difference will throw the speedo off as the truck has a specific tire height that it is calibrated to to generate your speed. If you put a smaller tire on, the truck will read faster and with a larger tire, the truck will read slower. If I remember correctly, I went up close to 4-5 inches bigger than stock on my old truck and in the city the speedo was 5mph slow. As the speed got up in the 70mph range, it was actually closer to 8mph off. You can get the speedo recalibrated for about $80 bucks from the dealer, just deal with the difference, use a gps to watch your speed, or buy a programmer.

Oh well....

Does anyone know if my speedometer or mpg display on the top console be off since I switched wheels and tires? If so how much? Thanks.
with my 285/50/20 my speed shows 3mph slower difference, from actual speed according to my gps navagation.. I also checked my mpg compared to computer and it was still right on..Cya Slick

Thanks guys I will take my gps with me next time I drive it and see how far it is off. If its only a few mph difference I will deal with it. Does using a programmer void your power train warranty?

Did everyone else that went with a 20 inch wheel remove their spare tire from underneath the truck? Will a spare from a ram with 20 inch wheels fit under there?

Thanks guys! Oh and Hendrix my dakota is a 4x4 as well and they fit perfect. You should have no problems getting a black set to fit on your truck. Though I doubt you would want to take them off road unless you went with a bigger all terrain tire like slick dakota did. I kept my stock aluminum 16 inch wheels with the 265-70-16's on them and put them in the shed so I can put them back on if I need to go off road or haul a heavy load.
