Default Slide-in camper

Anyone have one on their Dakota? I have read that our trucks can only handle certain kinds; the lightest and smallest you can find. Will strengthening the suspension help the truck handle a bigger load? Would I be able to put a slide-in camper that would go past the bed of the truck? I do not have any experience with slide in campers, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking into upgrading the shocks and putting supersprings and supercoils.

Check out "East End Campers", I had one for my 2000 Dakota, so I am sure they make ones that fits. I added Air Bag Suspension levelers to compensate for they weight. Worked great for me.

I found a used one in perfect shape on eBay for half the price in perfect condition.
