265/75/16 OR 265/70/16- Can't Decide
I tend to overthink things and I hate spending money so I can't decide between 265/75/16s or 265/70/16s for my 05 Dakota 4WD.
265/75/16s:
Look better
Truck sits higher
More wear and tear on front end?
Less power
Worse fuel mileage
Possible rubbing
265/70/16s:
Truck sits lower (but still higher than stock)
Less wear and tear on front end
More power
Better fuel mileage
Won't rub
Price is about the same for both sizes.
So I guess it really all comes down to whether or not I will really notice the 1" difference in tire height, and if it will overcome the negatives associated with the bigger tire. I currently have 265/75/16s and like the way the truck looks

Im in the same boat right now. I cant decide whether to do the 70s or 75s. I think Im going to stick with the 70s though. I currently have 245/70/16s, and Im going to bump them up to 265/70/16s. Its about an inch bigger in each direction so it wont slow me down too much, but it will add a little beef to the wheel wells. And they will fit because its a "stock" size that was available for the truck.
As long as you dont level the front end, the bigger size tire (265/75/16) shouldnt cause too many problems. People have had problems with the rack and pinion with the larger size and a leveling kit combined.

Go with the factory 265/70 R16. Firstly, I been down the 265/75 R16 road, and without lifting the truck, they look too big IMO. It almost makes the truck look lower to the ground, since it cramps up the wheel well space.
265/70 R16 is the way to go without a lift, then run over to dodge and for a couple bucks, they can set your tire size to 265/70 R16, and your speedo and odometer will be back in spec.
I don't think 265/70 R16 is even a factory size anymore...they probably realized it was too much tire. It's actually quite a lot of tire for this truck. Most full size trucks only run that size, and some not even.
