If you have one key that is already programmed, you can do it all yourself. Buy a key fob from a dealer or ebay, get it cut by your local hardware store and you can program the second key yourself as long as the first one still works. You need the first working remote to enter "programming mode"

Trust me I have one. When I open the door the alarm goes crazy, I had to remove the headlight and horn fuses to get it to stop. Then when I start the car it will only run for a few seconds before shutting down.

Yup, you have a transponder.
One member on the forum had his truck broken in to a while ago, and they tried stealing the truck but it kept stalling on them when they tried picking the ignition.
