Default How to wire FM modulator?

So I see there is no accessory 12v in the wiring harness for the radio (gee! thanks Dodge no reason anyone would ever want that!) so could I just splice the fm modulator into the cigarette lighter wire? It seems like a good idea to me, but I know nothing about electricity so if anyone could give me some feedback on this idea, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Matt

When you say power outlet, do you mean the 12v in my center console? If not, where is it?

Oh, okay, so then yeah it'd be fine to just splice my red 12v wire into the wires leading to the cigarette lighter/power outlet?

I know its probably a dumb question for someone who knows what they are doing, but I don't. I know nothing about electricity in general and even less about how it works in a truck. The local shop says they'll fit my FM modulator for $150, so I'm trying to save some money.
