Default Offset?

Hi, I'm pretty new to trucks and I was wondering, what is it called when you space your tires to stick out further than factory stock? Offsetting? I'm trying to do some research but I don't know what the term is.

Offset has to do with where the depth of the wheel's mounting point is in relation to the centerline. Here's a relatively simple explanation: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoWheelOffsets.dos
