Default Cosmetic Mods?

I am not the most creative person in the world. What are some cosmetic mods that everybody is doing? I was thinking as far as painting something, yes, with a rattle can because my apartment has no garage for an air compressor. How hard would it be to paint eyelids on my headlights?

With a project that small, you should be able to do it with a can of spraypaint IF you have the patients. Spray guns are necessary for bigger projects like grilles and bumpers. As long as you prime, use an automotive base color, and an automotive clear with a wet sand in between each coat .... and a proper dry time between each coat, they should come out nice.

If you want to do white (which would probably be an easier color to work with compared to black) use Duplicolor color matched paint. You can find it at Advanced or Autozone, all you need to know is the paint code of your truck. The flame red was pretty damn close to my truck. Just be sure you get that automotive clear, as automotive paint is flat/dull with no shine.

spray can paints can work out. Some helpful tips, put the can in hot water for a little while before painting, warming up the paint helps thin it out and spray more even. Also seams to help it dry. Make sure you paint in a NON windy area and no dust... patience as mentioned above. Don't be afraid to wet sand it with VERY fine grit paper. some other things you can do is debage the truck, get a fire and ice light bar for the back, if you like chrome PUTCO has some nice covers for your door handles (they are plastic so they can be color matched also) and just have fun with it

I've actually done this recently so here is what you do. For black, use night shade. Use 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper (autozone) and a bowl of water. tape off your whole headlight except for where you want to paint, make sure the lines match on both headlights. wet sand the exposed headlight area until a nice film builds up. Wipe it clean/dry. Put on an even layer of nightshade after you've test sprayed it on cardboard. Let it dry, and don't get impatient, give it an hour or more. Resand it lightly to even it out, and apply another coat. Clear coat it after 30 mins or so. Let dry for over an hour this time. Untape it and if you like it reinstall it, being wary of the paint, putting pressure on it will leave fingerprints for up to a day after painting. If you want it darker, before you clear coat it, resand and repaint. Done and done.

You can get factory color paint in spray cans, do an internet search....i painted my grill and headlight covers using paint from a can and it turned out really good, IMHO. My grill, for instance, I hand sanded (dry, I've ever had luck with wet sanding) the chrome with 1800 grit sandpaper ...cleaned it and shot it with the factory paint I got off the internet in 12 oz. spray cans. Put 4 coats on it followed by 3 clear coats. Did no other sanding other than the original and the paint/finish looks great and is holding up fine....
