Default Steering Sensor????

Has anyone heard of our trucks having any type of steering sensor?
Torque sensor? Force sensor?
Anything that would control the pressure that is sent to the rack?

Not that I know of...

"control pressure that is sent to the rack"

Your not having a loose again tight again feeling when holding turns are you? For example, swinging around a long off ramp, holding the turn, is the steering going loose all of a sudden, and you oversteer?

Thats a tell tale sign of the rack leaking somewhere.

No nothing like that. Just trying to get my sisters boyfriends to shut up. I told him that our rack pressure is controlled by internal valving in the rack. He is convinced that since his 97 Tahoe, and 2 gen Dakota's have a high pressure sensor built into the line that I have to have one.

I am trying to get to the bottom of my steering issues that does not include a leaking rack as the issues for a bad rack. I do not want to just start changing parts till the issue goes away.
