My parents never let me practice in their cars. Besides for the behind the wheel in drivers ed, I only went out once the day before my drivers test. I passed with 14pts taken off, so not too shabby. The vehical I drove after I got my license was a 94 Chevy 1500 2wd reg cab and a long box with a V6 and a 5-speed. Insurance was cheap, the truck could handle alot of abuse, and the best part was no one ever asked to borrow it because no one knew how to drive it or they didnt like how it could only seat 3 people. No friends ever wanted me to drive either because the person riding hump had to ride with a shifter between their legs. Probably one of the best "first cars" someone could have, IMO.

I think we have all been there.
Now I am showing my age, but as a 17 yr old I took out a mailbox and went though a ditch changing tracks on my "8 Track"
My 12 year old is already talking about wanting to drive the Dak to School when he turns 16. I think I'll let his mom teach him to drive in the Expedition =:-)

When I was 13 I taught my 16yr old sister to drive standard in an '85 F-150 in my parents hay field. Growing up on a farm I was driving as soon as I could reach the pedals.
