Default Needing good tire in wet/slush/snow

Looking for a good all year round tire. I have read through other posts and people were saying don't buy an A/T if not going to do any off-roading, it's not worth the extra money and reducing gas mileage. I don't do off roading and I don't want a winter tire.

I was going to buy the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 which came to $800 total. But apparently Bridgestone is out of stock for the next couple smonths (which take over the purpose of me using a better tire for winter). I e-mailed them asking what was going on and no response. Also, I have a Firestone/Bridgestone shop that is in my town but apparently they are shut down. I don't know why. I am not impressed with this as I was firm on buying these tires and was excited to get them.

I am stuck because my 2nd option was the BFG All Terrains but since they are pricey and I don't do off roading, then I would assume there would be no point (like others have said) to buy these tires. Also the gas mileage gets worse...along with the handling (cornering).

Third option was the Firestone Destination A/T but apparently the same deal with the BFG's. Also I dont know if a local shop carries these.

I am stuck on what to get. I will be needing them soon so I need to order something quick. Help!

Yup Hankook Dynapro ATM's that's what I bought and love them. They ride much better that stock tires. No change in MPG. I got mine at discounttiredirect for $127 each with free shipping. Then I went to Walmart and got them installed for $50.00 bucks for all four!!!

Among the better light truck, road tires for inclement weather, be it rain, snow, slush, ice would be Firestone Destination LEs, BFG Long Trails & Michelin LTX.

For a little more aggressive tread Nitto Terra Grapplers, Toyo Open Country A/Ts and Mickey Thompson ATZs...

Thanks, I appreciate your reply.

I am just definitely upset that bridgestone has a "back order" on the Revo 2's. It's ridiculous.

On an older truck I had great traction in winter conditions with Goodyear Wrangler AT/S (about the only Wranglers I'll even consider now). The BFG All Terrain TA/KO are a great tire all around, my dad has them on his Ram and you can't go wrong with those. Currently I'm running Merrit All Country Radial LXT's on the Dak, they went great in the snow last winter and have plenty of tread left for this winter, they like to sing on the highway though so if that bugs you they may not be the right tire for you. They have a nice aggressive look too:

On the "don't go with A/T tires for winter conditions" front, I personally disagree. Unless you're willing to spend for winter compound tires that you'll need to switch out in the summer A/Ts are a great all around winter weather/year round tire. I grew up in Maine where we get all kinds of nasty weather and almost everyone up there that doesn't switch tires between summer and winter runs A/Ts, food for thought.

I got the BFG A/T's only a few month's ago for my Dak. I had 33's BFG A/T's on my chev year round and they work great. Here In 1996 we had over 3 feet of snow and I never had one bit of problem getting around on the unplowed roads in my chev.
My milage didn't change on my Dak {19.5mpg} I put on 31's, used the sc tuner to recalibrate tire size, works great. I travel about 100k for work a day and never noteiced a handling problem, no road noise either, they work great in the rain, and I do off road { I hunt} but the majority of driving is to and from work.
So who ever told you about bad handling and bad gas milage don't know what they're talking about or never even tried them, I think they are a great all round tire, they have a good road side warranty and wear really well.
Just my 2c.

Yea I live on VI too so I experience the same weather as you. I just read that the tire is about 20lbs more heavier than the stock and being bigger tread adds more gas mileage. Thanks for the reviews again.
