Question super-chips with a manual trans

since i cant adjust shift points (well i can with that big lever comin thru the floor ) is it still worth getting. the power gain is tempting and so is the economy tune. i want to hear some thoughts.

A superchips on the 91 performance tune will add 18rwhp. I havent personally seen dyno charts, but it couldnt be far off. Compared to a CAI and exhaust, its a better value. For $280-300 youre adding 18hp which is a significant amount.

Here's a dyno a buddy sent me when I had my 04 Dak and was on the fence..........

Also, The Dakota's dont get the "economy" tune do they? At least my 04 didn't, the 05+ might get it, I didn't know. Loved the fact that my 3865 works on my ram too

I remember seeing it when I had the 3865 on my tuner, but when I tried to apply it, it said for rams only. Like I said, my Dak was an 04, the 05+ might have that option, I don't know?

You'll like it though!!!

There is an economy tune, it's called mileage XS, or mileage saver, I forget the name that appears in the choices. I tried it once, the truck lost a little of the pep compared to the octane tunes. There was no difference in mpg's that I noticed at all. I get 19.5 - 20 mpg going about 75 - 80 mph with any tune.

I have the Cortex 3950, JBA shorty headers, my own twist on the CAI, and dual (y-pipe back) exhaust. I can tell you that I was hesitant getting a tuner because I was not sure how much it would really add, BOY WAS I WRONG!

This thing is a BEAST now! I run the 91 tune w/ 93 Octane (yeah, I know gas is expensive, blah, blah, blah, whatever) and am pleased with the result.

So far I have managed to stay out of trouble

P.S. I love it when those little friggin bastards pull up next to me at a light and glance over at me....light turns green and they are still sucking on their thumb as they read D-A-K-O-T-A on my tailgate
