Default Tranny Shift Delay

Hey;

Every know and then, when I get into my truck, start it up, and throw it into drive, i get a 2-5 second pause from park to drive. I have so far always caught it, and put my foot back on the brake to prevent the trunk from slamming into gear and jumping forward, without any serious RPM's going.

It usually happens when the truck has been sitting for a period of time. Have not had it happen twice in a row. I have 91 000 KM's on the truck. I think tranny issues are covered under power train to 100 000KM. So hopefully, if i can get the truck in to be checked out, even if they find nothing, I will have a paper trail.

Any suggestions of the cause? Should I get the fluid changed? I don't get the dealer to do that work, I get a local quick fluid shop to do it my fluid changes.

if the truck has been sitting for a period of time, it is good practice to put it in nuetral for a few seconds before going into gear, it's normally because of air in the system

I should note, a period of time for me is anywhere from 8 hours to maybe 24 hrs.
