my truck wouldnt start this morning?
went out to start the truck to head to work. no go! tried again still nothing pushed the pedal down and it fired up but was super gassy smelling and wouldnt stay running on it own. SO I TOOK THE DAY OFF! (to work on the truck) had a couple of times the past few days it studdered at highway speed but came out of it very quick. filled up last night so im pretty sure it didnt freeze. im lost and dont know how to narrow the problem... spark? fuel?
update- got it started and foot fed it for a few minutes 2-3... turned it off was going to limp it into the garage when it got light out and warm it up. went out about 30 minutes later and it fired right up and stayed running. no more foot feeding pulled it into the garage and warming it up now anyway ? maybe some gas froze? if anyone has any ideas what to check id appreciate it ! i dont want to take tomorrow off too!

hey thanks for the replies guys ... i was thinking fuel pump too ... but i could keep it running with the pedal? im not a mechanic but my thoughts are the fuel pump is electric. it either works or it doesnt. and im really confused cuz it felt like starting my carbuerated camaro i had a few years ago. it was like it was flooding out because it was cold. it starts now and idles fine. just hope it doesnt happen tomorrow morning. going to get some heet today for it
does the fuel pump hum before you start the engine?(you can usually hear it when you turn the key)

I would go pick up a can of seafoam and dump it in your fuel tank.
1. It will remove moisture and stabilize the fuel
2. It will clean anything out that may be gunking up your system
It may fix your problem or it may not.
I would possibly look at the IAC on the side of the throttle body. If its gunked up, it could cause some idle issues. However, this would not explain why it hesitated on the freeway. The whole throttle body may need to be cleaned.
Are you getting any codes? Even if there is no light, I would check for them as they can be there. Take it to Autozone if you have to, they will read for free.
And are you filling up with a quality gasoline? I know alot of people will say gas is gas, but especially around winter, I wouldnt be going to the discount marts.
