I was thinking about posting this same thing earlier today. My gas milage has been about 13 mpg, 14 or almost 15 if I drive really well. This includes about half of the driving freeway and half in town. Is anyone else's this bad? I was told 16 in town and 20 on the highway. I don't think I can get anywhere close to 20. Granted I don't have any mods. I just built a DIY air intake but am waiting for my filter. What is the best MPG saving option out there? Or what are some setups that you guys have?

I get like 12 mpg city, 14 mpg hwy. It is the one thing I do not like about my dakota, i do not pay for gas, since i have a work gas credit card, but that is pretty crappy mpg..... only performance mods I have is magnaflow exhaust.

Wow! what a liar whoever the person who sold you the truck was! I expected 16mpg city and 20hwy and am sorely disapointed with the website i got that info from because i get no where near that.

Fuel mileage in our Daks is all over the place and I suspect that driving style is major factor in this. My '05 4.7 2wd used to get 15.5+ in town and 21 on the freeway at 70 mph. When I switched my axle ratio from 3.55:1 to 4.10:1, it went up to 18.5 in the city. I was driving easy to get that and when the gas went to 10% MTBE for the winter, my mileage dropped 10% or so (back down to 16.67 mpg). I haven't driven enough freeway miles to know what my highway mileage is now. Another factor I think is what our city driving really is. When I was hauling some furniture in a part of the city where there are traffic lights every 2 blocks, my mileage went down almost 2 mpg. My normal city driving has fewer lights and less traffic.

With the winter blend fuels and the cold outside temps, I'm sorry to say the MPG's have gone South for the winter. It will be back in the Spring.
