i like the size of the 35 inch tire, mine would mostly be a daily driver with the occasional desert trip a few times a year. im not too sure on what is what when it comes to lifts but if the majority of the dak owners here agree on something for a lift kit then i will go with them. im just really looking for a more agressive stance and if i have to run over something i dont want to be worrying about rubbing the bottom on something ya know

edit: thank you for taking the time to actually come talk to us, really shows alot about you and your company for taking us into consideration.

edit #2: forgot to mention iam 2WD not 4WD like most of the others

Anyhow,

What are you guys really looking for, forget about price. What do you want?

Max tire size dia-
Max tire size width-
Max/min wheel size-
Lift range-
should it be upgradeable-
AND most importantly what do you want to use it for (daily driver, rocks, mud, trails, desert, jumps, ???)-

I would like to first off say thanks for joining, and actually taking the time to even talk to us about a lift. As wrote before.. It really says something about a company that is willing to go that extra step to try to help us out!

I would love to sit on 34's or 35's
Width 12.5
I would not need it to be upgradeable
I would use mine for daily driving, Mud, and the occasional beach trip

I would like the see the ground clearance increased some, so we do not have a huge wall of cross member running across the front of the truck.

also, this doesn't look very promising. I would readily jump ship from zone to atomic at this point, but who knows

TO: forum members
FROM: dave @ zone

"Hey guys,

I want to make it clear that we are making no promises on building a full IFS kit for these trucks. Having said that, from the requests we've had from many Dakota owners, we do plan on bringing in a truck to potentially build a leveling kit and see what it will take for a more complete 6" IFS system. We do try to get involved on forums and listen to our customers so we will take the steps to see what our options are. Rather than blasting my inbox with email, I would recommend posting to the Zone Facebook page where everyone in the company is linked up.

i done told you. lol. Not talking down on Zone at all. im sure they build quality parts. But im going to have to compare them to superlift etc. Atomic has been in the off road racing industry and builds hardcore thick parts that get the crap beat out of them. even if you guys arent wanting long travel or going to abuse your trucks, at least atomic has taken the time to join and actually see what yall want. and isnt asking for a crazy number of people to commit before showing interest. now THATS a shop. Granted youll probably pay alittle more. but theyre **** is proven in sanctioned off road organizations like BITD and SCORE.

im absolutely glad that a company specializing in my style of trucks is willing to jump on board for ideas and estimates. way to go ATOMIC

btw atomic, you guys on rdc?

Well Rich, I kinda gave you an Idea what I was looking for, but Ill state it again

I am wanting something along the line of a 6/4 lift. Capable of putting on 33-35" tires. As far as use, it would be on road, general off road. I wont be taking any jumps with it, but there is always the chance that I might hit a large ditch at some good speed.

The main problem is that my frame is just too low to the ground. A body lift obviously wont help me.

What would be the chances of you putting together a less BA kit, even if it is long travel.
Honestly I really did not want anything that stuck up out of the bed of the truck, altho one of those BA tire rack would not be out of the question.

Or since this has been tossed around, what would be the chances that you would be able to make a SAS kit for these trucks, That would simplify the end product, but would be more complicated to install as I assume that it would take several cuts and welds to make it solid and safe.

I would be all for a high flex SAS setup. Possibly a Dana 44? I mean, I would imagine that the parts could be made fairly easily. You could offer it with or without an Axle, so that those of us that already have an axle could put it in with the kit you make.

On another note, would you be able to make the kit and sell it, or would you have to have the truck, and put it on your self? If the latter is the case, I can't do this, way to far away to pull the trigger on that one.

So yeah, based on Zones response, I started a discussion thread on their facebook page, and a post on their wall.

I imagined this was the case, another company jerking us around. I mean really, if you have no intent to make it. JUST TELL US FROM THE BEGINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Notice that now that we have gotten close to his 100 people requirement, what does he do, make sure to state that he is pretty much going to wuss out on us.

Notice the part about we made no promise. To me that means that yeah...we wanted to lead you on, so we put a ridiculous number on the people that we wanted to get a lift produced, thinking that there was no way that you would be able to pull this off.

Here is what he should have said in his last email.

We searched the internet, and saw that there were many simple leveling kits out, so we might make one of those. But honestly we did not think that you could pull off getting 100 people to commit, so yeah we are just going to leave you with the thought that we are just a group of D-Bags that like to lead other people on.

Really, do the math. 90 kits at 1500-2000 each? On the low end, that is $135k wtf that is not enough to get a general lift kit company interested, and that is in TWO WEEKS. On the high end, that is $180k. Even with figuring the RD costs that I was quoted, $12k minus the labor and materials to make 100 kits, you are still making a good $50K PROFIT AND THAT IS JUST ON US. God some people are money hungry. Imagine how much more money they would make when their lift kit comes up on google as the ONLY suspension lift for a 05-07 Dakota. AND THEY ARE STILL NOT INTERESTED. Again, can these people wuss out any more?

Fail Zone, Fail all the others that said nope we are too much of a group of WUSSES to make a kit.

I sent another email to Fabtech, and pointed them to this thread, I guess it looks like our last hope is a home brewed one, Atomic, or Doesctech (however it is spelled) /rant
